Remembering the Sabbath
Genesis describes God resting on the seventh day, blessing it, and sanctifying it. Exodus commands Israel to remember the Sabbath and keep it holy, setting the day apart from ordinary work.
Rest and gathering
The command includes rest for the household, servants, animals, and the stranger within the gates. Leviticus describes the Sabbath as a holy convocation. Read these passages together to study rest, holiness, and the gathering of the congregation.
