Day of Simeon

What it remembers

DSOI keeps this as a remembrance-only observance. The Day of Simeon remembers the deliverance of Jerusalem from the hostile stronghold described in 1 Maccabees 13. Simeon, called Simon in this KJV passage, accepted the surrender of those in the tower, removed them, and cleansed it. The people entered with palm branches, music, hymns, and thanksgiving.

Simon established a yearly remembrance with gladness because a great enemy had been removed from Israel. Study the account as a remembrance of deliverance, restored worship, and gratitude.
